In week 4 it took me from Wed. to Sun. to get a “giveaway” project put together tested and retested until I was assured nothing would break and it would be ok to put into a giveaway site.
Hard to calculate how many actual hours were spent at it but it was substantial.
Anyway today I put one together from start to finish in less then 2 hours. Am I good or what? Just sayin.
Pitfalls are aplenty and there is a definate chicken and egg thing atwixt when you are developing your squeeze page, your download squeeze page, your download thank you page, and your download page. And your web form html and if you have an upsell in the package somewhere you have a buy button to contend with.
You can’t finish squeeze pages until you know the URL’s that you need to input. So you FTP the pages to your site so you can get the URLs. Then you go back and paste the URL into your squeeze pages in their strategic points to make sure the opt ins are directed to where you want them. And you need your URL directive for your confirmed opt in message in aweber.
Then you have to re-load the pages to your web site. Then you get the thank you page URL that you need to put into your buy button so when and if they buy they will be directed to where you want them.
Then you have to re-copy the buy button code to your download squeeze page. I’m not actually sure you need to recopy the code but I have been doing it just in case. Then you have to re-upload the squeeze page to your site again.
Around and around we go. Have I made this too difficult? The reason the first one took me so long was because I wasn’t re-copying and re-uploading every time I made a change somewhere and it just wouldn’t come out right.
Is there anyone out there that knows if and how you can test a buy button that you have placed on a squeeze page?

Marketing Tips

Hi Norm,
thanks for reading my blog, I’m trying to think of ways to mix up my blog, trying to give both my experiences with Alex Jeffreys course,
which I think is really great, and other informative articles with
some value to them.
Sounds as though you are making real good progress with your
project, maybe as we go along I can look over your shoulder
and see all the pieces tied together.
there’s soooo much to learn, its never ending.
Let’s keep in touch
Good job,
To your Success,

Thanks for the comment. Would appreciate your looking over my shoulder. Don’t know if you will learn anything but I usually expound on the things I did badly, which might be the best learning experiences we can have.
I am presently writing an ebook. Well don’t know if it will be a book or not but I am documenting the giveaways process from the “pitfalls” point of view and hopefully how to avoid them or at least reduce their impact.
I am not ready to post it on my blog yet, don’t know if I ever will, depends on what I want to do with it. If it turns out as something that has merit and might be marketable I will then decide what to do with it. I really would like to share it as I go along, someone who could help me critique it.
Would you be interested in being my sounding board?
Norm
Norm,
Wow… I thought giveaways were much easier… Better plan my time for this a little better.
Also been a while since I’ve seen the word atwixt and Portland, Oregon. Everything I’ve heard about this place makes me want to go there.
Is is all what they say..

I don’t mean to imply Giveaways are exceedlingly difficult only that they take close attention to what you are doing.
I just read a blog by JT Marin. He’s from Alex’s first group and he used giveaways from the get go to build his list. He has written a book about it and it’s free for the taking, “JV Giveaways Unleashed”.
I am downloading it now.
Twixt?? Who knows why I used that word, just to tweek people’s attention I guess.
Porltand is a great city, but Oregon itself is what I really love. Hard to beat this place for a pleasent place to live.
Norm
I agree Norm,
It does sound easy to just say it to others like put this page up or ftp that, but when you get to actually doing them they really aren’t that simple! Initially I thought giveaways were just…….giveaways!!
There’s certainly a learning curve ahead of us.

Thanks for the comment.
I hope I haven’t been too negative about the whole “giveaways” process. It actually challenges our skills to be in the internet marketing business.
I really appreciate Alex’s tutorials that stretch me into learning and applying more things.
There’s an old addage that goes something like: “if you don’t stretch beyond your current knowledge and skills you will never become stronger.” Kind of the same as exerise, you don’t actually increase muscle or expand your lung and heart capacity until you hit the wall so to speak.
Exerise will keep you in your current condition but to improve your condition you must reach beyond your current condition.
Wow, listen to me, waxing philosophical.
Thanks again for your comment.

Hi Norm,
I think its good that you are writing an ebook, only good will come from that. I think we can help each other.
Do you use skype ?. thats a great tool for working with someone
face to face. I have a partner that has 8 years experience,
we use it all the time to work on things.
maybe next week we can try out skype.
let me know
have a good weekend
to your success,

I’m afraid I am still in the dark ages with my computer. I don’t have a web cam I don’t even have a video recorder. Just things I haven’t gotten around to yet, spent so darn much money on all kinds of other get rich quite schemes I just don’t have the nerve to spend anymore until I make some
I think I’m going to have to scrap that thought though. I need some more tools to get me known out there in cyberland.
Thanks for the comment, I’ll see what I can do.
Norm
Hey Norm
Thanks for heading over to my blog the other day. To answer your question it’s a regular word press theme that can be found by searching for “Desk” under the themes section, glad you like it.
Sounds like your fast becoming an authority on giveaways. I’m sure I read somewhere that you were creating an e-book, that’s got to be good for Viral marketing!
Let me know as soon as you’ve made your first video, i’ll be looking forward to seeing it.
Speak soon, Nathaniel.
P.S it doesn’t have to be Nathaniel, you can call me anything you like lol – Within reason of course hahaha!
Nathaniel
Ok Nathaniel it is.
Don’t know if I am an authority yet on giveaways but I’ve learned how to set one up and join giveaways much faster now then the first one I did.
Yes, I am attempting to write an ebook on the subject, but from the “watch out for these pitfalls” angle. I’ve got a few pages done but have a ways to go.
As far as a video, I’m still in the dark ages on that one. I don’t have a web cam nor a video recorder, so I need some tools before I get started in the video game. It’s on my todo list, I suppose I should move it up in priority.
Thanks for your comment
